ERA5 — ECMWF fifth-generation atmospheric reanalysis
Hourly estimates of atmospheric, land and oceanic variables (2-m temperature, 10-m wind, precipitation, surface pressure, radiation, soil moisture, etc.) at ~31 km on 137 model levels; plus monthly aggregates. Distributed in GRIB/NetCDF via Copernicus CDS (cdsapi).

About Copernicus
EU Earth Observation Programme · Global
Copernicus is the European Union's Earth observation programme, implemented by the European Space Agency and operationally managed by ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts). Its Climate Change Service (C3S) provides free access to ERA5, the fifth-generation global atmospheric reanalysis covering 1940 to present at hourly temporal resolution and approximately 31 km spatial resolution, as well as seasonal forecasts and climate projections. Data is freely accessible via the Copernicus Climate Data Store (CDS) API.
